Repentance in Judaism known as teshuvah " class="glossary-icon active">
(Hebrew תשובה, literally "return"), is the way of atoning for sin in Judaism.
According to Jewish practice, if someone commits a sin, a forbidden act, he can be forgiven for that sin if he performs teshuvah, which includes: (1) confessing the sin; (2) if the sin was committed against another person, asking that person's forgiveness; (3) ceasing to commit the sin; (4) regretting the sin; (5) firmly resolving never to repeat the sin.
