Rabbi Barry Diamond has joined Temple Sinai as our interim rabbi. Rabbi Diamond is an outgoing, personable, and creative individual who will enrich our congregation and be invaluable in assisting our transition from the departure of Rabbi Todd Thalblum.

Previously, Rabbi Diamond served as the Rabbi/Director of Education at Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, Texas for fourteen years and at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan for two years.

Rabbi Diamond was ordained in 1991 from the Cincinnati campus of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and also studied at the Rhea Hirsch School of Education. He holds a Masters Degree in Hebrew Letters and B.A. in Psychology from California State University at Fullerton.

Rabbi Diamond served as the President of the National Association of Temple Educators and co-chaired the Joint Commission on Lifelong Learning for the Union for Reform Judaism. He has served as Alumnus-in-Residence at the Hebrew Union College and a guest lecturer at the Cleveland College of Jewish Studies.

Rabbi Diamond has an extensive background in the Reform Movement's camping program and has served as staff and faculty at Camp Swig, Olin-Sang-Ruby Institute, and Greene Family Camp.

Rabbi Diamond is married to Sandy S. Diamond, who is the Director of Development at Yavneh Academy in Dallas, Texas. He is originally from Orange Country, California and has three children and two stepchildren.

In addition to serving as the Interim Rabbi of Temple Sinai, Rabbi Diamond is the principal consultant of The Sandbar Group, working with nonprofit boards of directors implementing effective governance practices.
